With self-quarantine measures scrapped, travelling overseas from Queensland just got a whole lot easier.

It was an exciting time back in November 2021 when Australians were allowed to travel overseas again after nearly 2 years.

But for our friends in the Sunshine State, it’s been a little less straightforward as Queensland has kept quarantine rules in place for travellers returning from overseas. That all changes shortly.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced today that from 1am Saturday 22 January, fully-vaccinated international travellers will be allowed to enter the state without having to self-quarantine.

Returning vaccinated international travellers will need to do a rapid antigen test within 24 hours of their arrival.

This is great news for travellers who have wanted to leave and return to Queensland to visit family and friends on holiday. So where can you go? We’ve rounded up the 4 cheapest international destinations for Queenslanders in February.

What can I do to protect my trip?

Before you book, familiarise yourself with your airline’s flexibility policy. This will be key as you may be able to change your date if circumstances change.

Don’t forget to take out travel insurance. Some insurers now provide cover for COVID-19, which may give you peace of mind while travelling.
