The authorities on Thursday explained that no mill beneath Nationwide Textile Corporation (NTC) Ltd was closed down in the last two decades. In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Textiles Darshana Jardosh explained thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown imposed by the various states, the manufacturing routines in all NTC Ltd mill units ended up put on maintain from March twenty five, 2020.

Right after lifting of the lockdown and as for every availability of uncooked product, NTC restored operation of 14 mill units from January 2021 onwards.

She explained the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic again led to the closure of all NTC mill operations in April 2021.

Now, NTC has restored operations in some of its mills in July 2021 as for every uncooked product availability, and the workforce ended up paid out salary regularly as for every their status by NTC out of its funds reserve, the minister explained.

“Under NTC Ltd, a Central Public Sector Company beneath Ministry of Textiles, no mill was closed down all through the last two decades,” she additional.

In a separate reply, she explained beneath SITP (Scheme for Integrated Textile Park), 66 parks ended up sanctioned.
