We’re eagerly awaiting the return of Love Island this June, and as the line-up of new contestants is revealed, the excitement levels are starting to hit the roof.
A summer of sun, sea and another word beginning with ‘S’ that we probably can’t use right now (ahem), it’s been a long 12 months since we were last blessed with our Majorcan reality TV fix.
And while the likes of Millie Court and Faye Winter still ring familiar in our minds, and everywhere on social media, there are more than 200 contestants to remember.
Which, let’s be real, is totally impossible.
So we’ve dug up 10 names from past seasons that made an impression at the time, but might not be on your radar anymore.
Let’s take a look at their successes since the show and what they’re up to now.
1. Jon Clark

He might have been part of the OG Islander crew of Season 1, but you’re probably more likely to associate Jon Clark with a series of failed relationships on TOWIE.
Jon made history in 2015 when he proposed to then-girlfriend Hannah Elizabeth during a wedding challenge on Love Island, but their dramatics have long been forgotten under the weight of six more seasons.
He’s since dated Love island’s Chloe Crowhurst and took an interest in dumped Islander Elma Pazar.
Jon was signed for The Only Way is Essex in 2016, but was suspended from the show two years later for slapping his co-star Diags, according to The Sun.
Nowadays, his social media is pretty quiet but he does promote Essex-based design company Lolinas Interiors, so perhaps he’s back to his pre-fame builder roots.
2. Lucie Donlan
She’s close with Dancing on Ice star Maura Higgins, but we don’t otherwise see much of Lucie Donlan in the headlines.
Her life with fiancé Luke Mabbott looks pretty bloomin’ wholesome, if we’re being totally honest.
The couple live, surf and promote their sustainable lifestyle down in Cornwall and it’s all pretty picture perfect.
You’ll remember that Lucie was at odds with the girls a lot throughout her series, but really stirred up trouble when she declared her feelings for Tommy Fury… after he was already coupled-up with Molly-Mae, who are still together today.
Luckily all’s well that ends well, and Lucie is thriving as a Free Surfer in the south east while renovating a cottage with future hubby Luke.
3. Shaughna Phillips
London Islander Shaughna Phillips was the target of some pretty horrid social abuse during her stint in the villa.
Trolls cruelly targeted her weight (and specifically her legs), shaming her in comparison to the other girls in the villa.
We can’t personally fault her, but apparently the keyboard warriors found something to keyboard warrior about.
The blonde beauty was diagnosed with Lipoedema after leaving Love Island, a build-up of fat in your legs and sometimes arms.
But, in true phoenix style, Shaughna rose from the troll ashes and used her platform to promote a filler-free lifestyle and openly discusses her weight-loss and weight-gain journey.
She launched Be You With Shaughna, a sport and fitness instruction plan that supports a non-restrictive approach to healthy living, and is also sharing interior design updates as she renovates her new home.
We are here for it.
4. Joanna Chimonides
Remember Joanna Chimonides? She shot to Twitter fame after calling Season 5 eye-candy Michael Griffiths a “f***ing snake” when he chose to stay in the villa, leaving Joanna single and dumped.
Now, she’s a co-host of BBC 1’s podcast The Reality Tea where reality TV stars spill the inside scoop on what it’s really like on the show they starred in.
She is also an ambassador for the Downs Syndrome Association.
5. Jack Fowler
Jack Fowler certainly made waves in Season 4.
Jack entered the villa on Day 26 and was dumped on Day 53, but that was plenty of time for him to gather a following outside of the villa.
The hunk has been living it large as he travels the globe, producing music, sharing shirtless pics with his 1.1 million Instagram followers, and now on a European tour as a DJ.
In 2021, he released club anthem Foolish with award-winning artist Tom Zanetti.
6. Carl Woods
So, he might’ve only managed to survive Love Island for one episode back in 2016, but he’s certainly a name you might recognise these days as Katie Price’s fiancé.
Carl appeared as a bombshell contestant on a speed dating task, but never actually made it into the villa.
Ah well, looks like things turned out well for the Essex lad anyway.
7. Kaz Crossley
Muay Thai superstar Kaz Crossley has led a post-Love Island life relatively distant from her co-stars.
The 28 year old from London did jump on the fashion bandwagon with the launch of her headband brand, Kaz Bands, but she’s kept a few miles under her belt since appearing in the villa.
Most recently, she helped to fundraise more than £85,000 to help build a school, house and gym for kids in Thailand.
She has also opened women-only classes in London known as Combat Collective.
Don’t get us wrong, we’re still über jealous of her worldly travels and success, but we’re also slightly starry-eyed at her route down the road to strong female empowerment… by way of seriously kicking butt.
8. Alex Beattie
Yeah, sorry – who?
And that’s the running joke for poor Alex Beattie ever since he left Love Island coupled up with fan-favourite Montana Brown.
Now that’s not to say he played second fiddle to his Islander counterpart, but it did often feel like his personality just couldn’t match up to Montana’s sassy wit.
Despite making it all the way to the end (mostly, the couple were dumped just before the final), Alex hasn’t had too many front-page-worthy moments.
He’s certainly doing well for himself though; he is the owner and coach of Achievable Academy, a subscription fitness programme for people wanting to look like, well, Alex Beattie.
9. Josh Denzel
Funny-man Josh Denzel was probably most famous for his bromance with co-star Wes Nelson, who certainly isn’t an Islander to forget about.
But Josh returned to his sport presenting roots after the villa, and has since made it big working for Sky Sports, BBC Sport, JD Sports, Prime Video Sports… all the ‘something sports’, basically.
He’s certainly doing bits in his professional career, sharing updates alongside Manchester City footballer Jack Grealish, controversial boxer Jake Paul and fellow footie pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher.
Quite frankly, fair play.
10. Zara McDermott
Bombshell Zara McDermott divided viewers in Season 4, swooping in to couple up with player Adam Collard, who had already left a string of girls behind him.
The pair made a go of things outside the villa, but eventually split.
Zara, who has since been dating Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson 2019 (despite a brief break after Zara confessed to cheating), made her presenting debut for BBC Three show Love in the Flesh.
She has also fronted two BBC documentaries, Uncovering Rape Culture and Revenge Porn.
